Children's technology park “Kvantorium” will appear in Rostov-on-Don by the end of this year. It is built as an alternative to the technical creativity circles, as a mechanism of formation of interest in natural sciences in schoolchildren, and will contribute to the recovery of engineering education prestige. The “Kvantorium” will allow creating 800 additional places for engagement in technical creativity. It is expected that managers and top specialists of field-specific enterprises of the region will actively participate in the educational process, formulate and solve particular engineering tasks together with children.
The “Kvantorium” will be located on two sites:
- the Regional center of students’ technical creativity (Rostov-on-Don, 67, Zakrutkina St.);
- Don State Technical University (Rostov-on-Don, 1, Gagarin Sq.).
Children will get professional skills and abilities in six quantums:
- industrial design,
A high-tech workshop will become the resource base of the “Kvantorium”, where students will receive practical skills in making prototype models, architectural and landscape models, experimental models of products, mechanical parts of robots. This is a workshop equipped with high-tech equipment: 3D printers and scanners, laser cutting equipment, numerically controlled machine tools and other modern equipment.
Initially, it is planned to train children at the age of 12-18 years in the “Kvantorium”. Further, the age range will be reduced to five years.
