On June 5-6, 2017, the Deputy Director General of the Foundation Andrei Mikitas and the Head of the Expertise and Monitoring Department Denis Tolstykh monitored the activities of regional infrastructure facilities for supporting small and medium-sized businesses that received funding from the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.
During the visit, the Foundation staff got acquainted with the current activities of the cluster development center and the regional engineering center, and also visited several enterprises of the region that received support from the Innovation Support Foundation. In 2016, young scientists and innovative companies in Rostov region submitted 76 applications to the Foundation’s programs; 15 projects totaling more than RUB 80 million rubles received support.
“Such visits help assess the effectiveness of the Foundation’s programs and of the support provided. Thus, Biokhran Company from the city of Rostov-on-Don is one of the vivid examples how a big business grew out of the idea. The enterprise issues cards for the sampling and long-term storage of DNA-containing biological material. In 2013, the project was supported by the UMNIK program, the idea was finalized, and in 3 years the team received a grant under the Start program, which further facilitated the launch of its own production,” said Andrei Mikitas.
According to Denis Tolstykh, the number of participants in the Foundation’s programs in Rostov region increased more than 1.5 times in 2016 as compared to 2015.
