The meeting between the Deputy Head of the City Administration for Economic Affairs Dmitry Chernyshov and the Plenipotentiary Minister, the Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Indonesia in Russia Lazro Simbolon took place on Friday, April 14, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Rostov Region.
The meeting was also attended by Svetlana Abdulazizova, the Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Rostov Region, Svetlana Kambulova, the Director of the City Economy Department, Maria Krylosova, the Head of the Department for External Relations and Intermunicipal Cooperation of the Rostov-on-Don City Administration, the representative of the Administration of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Russia Tatik Trisnawati as well as representatives of tourist companies of the city. When opening the meeting, the Deputy Head of the City Administration for Economic Affairs noted that the strengthening of relations with foreign states has always been, and remains the priority of foreign policy of Russia and, therefore, of any municipal entity. – We are open for business communication and mutually beneficial partnership, both with representatives of the diplomatic corps, and those of foreign businesses.
“Our main goal is to have as many equal partners both in the West and in the East as possible. We are in favor of increasing the number of diplomatic missions in the city,” said Dmitry Chernyshov.
In turn, Mr. Simbolon added that the Rostov region and, in particular, the city of Rostov attracted not only as an agrarian region and a city with great tourist potential, but also as a student space. They discussed that representatives of foreign countries should pay attention to the education and more actively practice the student exchange.
The Plenipotentiary Minister said that today, 28 Indonesian students are studying in Rostov-on-Don, which characterizes the city as a comfortable and attractive place for life. Lazro Simbolon also drew attention to the fact that one of the students is studying at the Rostov Rachmaninoff Conservatory.
Svetlana Kambulova presented the tourist potential of the southern capital and told about the work done on the eve of the World Cup 2018. As noted, recently, Rostov began to position itself as a venue for business events. They also talked about exhibitions, in particular, about the annual exhibition “World Without Borders” that took place on April 1. Mr. Simbolon was interested in the event, and the Plenipotentiary Minister expressed a desire to present the tourism potential of Indonesia at the exhibition next year.
Representatives of tourist companies of Rostov told that Indonesia is a fundamentally new direction for regional tourism and expressed readiness for further cooperation.
It should be noted that in 2016, the foreign trade turnover of the Rostov region with the Republic of Indonesia amounted to 26.5 million US dollars. The export of goods to Indonesia has increased by 20.7 million US dollars as compared to 2015. Moreover, the export includes such products as plastic items, electrical machinery and equipment, and furniture. The most exported goods from the Don region to Indonesia are cereals – they occupy 88.9% or 20.8 million US dollars of the entire export.
The Rostov region buys cotton, chemical threads and fibers, and fats and oils from the Republic of Indonesia.
