The delegation of the Rostov-on-Don municipality took part in the events of the 5th Congress of Russia and Finland’s Twin Cities in the city of Turku (Finland) at the invitation of the Twin Cities International Association.
The delegation was headed by the first deputy head of the city administration Alexandr Skryabin and included deputies of the Rostov-on-Don City Duma Sergei Kovalev, Dmitry Oleinikov, and Dmitry Bondar, the head of the department for international and inter-municipal relations and protocol events of the Rostov-on-Don City Duma Galina Skripka and chief experts of the department of external relations and inter-municipal cooperation of the City Administration Natalia Dudnik.
The main theme of the Congress was the System of Municipal and Regional Government in Finland and Russia and the Forthcoming Changes; the Finnish-Russian Cooperation at the Regional and Local Levels. The Congress program provided for three thematic sessions devoted to the development of municipal services, the promotion of entrepreneurial activity by local authorities and the protection of the environment. In particular, it was noted that the cooperation of twin cities remained one of the most effective instruments for developing trade and economic ties between Russia and Finland.
Within the framework of the Ecology 2017, the thematic group “Environment and Municipal Technical Services” is of particular importance in the Russian Federation.
The delegation of the city of Rostov-on-Don got acquainted with the Kakolanmäki sewage treatment plant, visited the Topinoja household waste collection center, and took part in the presentation of the household waste collection system in the South-West Finland, where a discussion on the practices of Finland and Russia was held.
