On the threshold of FIFA World Cup-2018 Rostov Municipal Enterprise of Water Supply and Waste Water Treatment is implementing the system of air two-stage fine purification at the sewage pumping station No. 6 (KNS-6). It is located on the left bank of the Don and serves the central and eastern part of the city. This technology will save the citizens and the guests of the Don region capital from possible occurrence of unpleasant smell.
Complicated engineering facilities of the city waste water treatment system require intensive air exchange to prevent the accumulation of toxic and explosive substances in it. Often it results in the appearance of the “sewage system smell”, which is felt in the vicinity of some sewage pumping stations and water treatment facilities.
The specialists of Rostov Municipal Enterprise of Water Supply and Waste Water Treatment began to seek the technical solution of this matter last year. Then the project of air flow odor control system was designed and the contractor for its realization was selected. At this stage the contractor has already purchased and mounted the equipment of domestic manufacturer at KNS-6. The project designing and realization cost is about 20 mln. rubles. The financing is done at the expenses of JSC “Rostovvodokanal”, which is part of the group of companies of JSC “Evraziyskiy”.
Alexander Zharov notes that the odor control system will allow removing unpleasant odors, reducing the sanitary-protective area of the facilities and creating comfortable living conditions for the citizens and the city guests.
