Rostov-on-Don, together with German cities, implements a number of projects in the field of culture, education, science and sports

From September 18 to 22, 2019, the first secretary of the German Embassy in Russia Matias Roth is visiting the Don capital.

On Wednesday, September 18, in the building of the City Administration, a meeting was held between the Deputy Mayor for Economics Svetlana Kambulova and Mr. Roth.

Svetlana Kambulova presented to the representative of the German Embassy Rostov-on-Don in numbers, focusing on the positive dynamics of the city. Over the past three years, the industrial production index has been more than 100%, and more than 110 billion rubles have been invested in the city’s economy.

As part of the twinning relations of Rostov-on-Don with the German cities of Dortmund and Hera, a number of projects are being implemented in the field of culture, education, science and sports.

Mr. Roth noted that in general, despite some foreign policy restrictions, trade between Russia and Germany is steadily growing. Of course, the basis of bilateral mutually beneficial relations is trade and economic cooperation. At the same time, in order to give an additional impetus to relations, strengthen mutual understanding and develop mutually beneficial contacts between the German and Russian Foreign Ministries, an agreement was reached on holding the Year of Germany in Russia in 2020.

Starting in August 2020, a number of large-scale events in the field of art, culture, science, language, and the environment will be held in Russia. The program of the Year of Germany in Russia provides for a number of events in the regions of Russia, including in Rostov-on-Don and the Rostov Region.

Russian-German cooperation is also developing as part of the Russian-German year of scientific and educational partnerships 2018-2019. This year is dedicated primarily to basic research. Southern Federal University is one of the active participants in the project, thus contributing to the strengthening of ties in the scientific and educational sphere.

At the end of the conversation, Mr. Roth noted that the German Embassy in Russia is ready to provide all the necessary support to the city of Rostov-on-Don in promoting initiatives to enhance cooperation with German cities.
