Rostov-on-Don Preparation for FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia is 95% Finished

On March 2 the Don capital was visited by the joint group of representatives of Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and Organization committee “Russia-2018”.

It was the second stage of final, the seventh, working visit on stadium readiness for FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.

The group of experts was headed by the Director General of Organization committee “Russia-2018” – Alexey Sorokin and Director of FIFA Department on Competitions and Activities Performance – Colin Smith.

Colin Smith pointed out that the group was satisfied by the general readiness of Rostov-Arena stadium for World Cup-2018 matches holding.
— What can be displeasing here? Look around. It is really a wonderful football stadium. The main peculiarity of the stadium lies in the fact that the stands are located close to the field and allow feeling the wonderful atmosphere of big football, — explained Colin Smith answering the journalists’ questions.


Alexey Sorokin assured that the stadium would be released in the nearest future. He also noted that the level of city readiness in general could be evaluated as satisfactory, despite of some working moments in organization.

The group was also impressed by the new airport – Platov.

The First Deputy of Rostov region Governor Igor Guskov, who accompanied the guests of the Don capital during the stadium visit, told that the big work had been performed; Rostov-on-Don preparation for FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia was finished by 95%.
— The issues regarding transport, engineering infrastructure, hotels are settled to the full extent. Our city is ready for World Cup, which will take place in 104 days, — Igor Guskov informed with certainty. — We shall try to settle all comments provided by FIFA as soon as possible.
