The Main Railway Station of Rostov-on-Don has been modernized to the World Cup 2018

In the framework of the preparations for the World Cup, the modernization of the Rostov-Main Railway Station has been completed.
As the press service of the Rostov Oblast Governor informs, the railway station has become more up-to-date and comfortable after the works completion.

The head of the RR (Russian Railways) Oleg Belozerov stressed, "Now it fully meets the world requirements for similar objects of the railway infrastructure."

A new inspection pavilion with a capacity of over 2 thousand passengers per hour has been built.

According to the Head of the company, the Russian Railways, JSC, plans to purchase 22 electric trains of the alternating-current electric train (ACET) series, of which 18 will be delivered to the Rostov Oblast this year, within the investment program framework.


The investments in the RS (rolling stock) purchase will amount to more than 4 billion rubles.

The trains meet the most up-to-date international requirements for the safety of the motorized rolling stock operation. They are distinguished by an increased level of comfort for passengers.

Comfortable six-seated and double-seated sofas are installed in the alternating-current electric train (ACET) cars; they are equipped with mounts for bicycle transportation as well. The microclimate maintenance system with air disinfection function allows adjusting the temperature depending on the weather outside the window and the cabin occupancy.

A barrier-free environment has been created in the train: the head cars are equipped with lifts for wheelchairs, spacious comfort station complexes are designed for the low-mobility passengers as well.


Let's note, the Rostov-Main Railway Station is one of the busiest on the range of the North Caucasian Railways. Today, the passenger flow of the station is more than 10 thousand people per day. The complex is able to serve about 4 million people per year. Today the area of the station complex is more than 9 thousand square meters; the landside area near the railway station is 11.6 thousand square meters.
