2018 FIFA World Cup Rostov-on-Don

The largest football tournament of the planet in 2018 will be hosted by Russia. Our country is rightfully considered one of the world’s leading sports states. For the history of the performance of the Soviet and Russian teams at the Olympic Games, their athletes have won more than 500 gold medals. Athletes of the Rostov region have made a significant contribution to that success. They won 113 Olympic medals, including 40 gold, 32 silver and 41 bronze medals.

Thanks to that success, the capital of the Donskoy Kray has become one of the cities that will host the matches of the World Cup in 2018.

Rostov-on-Don is significantly transforming in various arrears to the Football World Cup. The investment projects will create favorable conditions for the championship and will have a positive impact on the development of the left-bank sports and recreational area of the Don capital.

The following activities are planned for the beginning of the Mundial:

  • Construction of a stadium for 45,000 attendants in the left-bank area of ​​Rostov-on-Don;
  • Camping area for the guests of the Championship;
  • Reconstruction of the bridge over the Don river with the extension of the carriageway to 6 lanes;
  • Construction of the Southern and Western traffic bypass of the city;
  • Construction of a new international airport;
  • Construction of a cable car over the Don river;
  • Preparation of training grounds and team bases;
  • Overhaul of existing health facilities;
  • Construction of new energy facilities;
  • Construction of new hotels;
  • Creation of a tourist information center.
